Incidence of Actinic Keratosis (Senile Keratosis) in Korean-Preliminary Report

Abstract
|
|
|
The 375 cases of senile brownish ´hyperkeratotic patches were studied with histopathologic examination in Seoul Korea.
Biopsy specimens were obtained from the dorsa of hands, forearms and faces where were exposured to sun-Iight easily.
Age distribution was from 40 to 83.
We studied, 151 females and 224 males.
The biopsied sites were 43 cases from the forehead, 31 cases around the eye, 28 cases from the nose, 61 cases from the temple, 33 cases from the cheek, 29 cases from the chin, 78 cases from the forearm and 72 cases from the, dorsum of the hand.
The results were as follows
1) Seborrheic keratoses were 223 cases (59,47%), Senile lentigo 148 cases (39.47x) and actinic keratoses 4 cases (1.07%).
2) The regional distribution of actinic keratoses were 2 cases at the temple, 1 at the evebrow and 1 at the nose bridge.
3) 1 case of actinic keratosis was.71 .years old, female and 3 cases were 63,69 and 75 years old males each one.
May be actual incidence of actinic keratosis. in our nation will be higher than this result bacause of we could not obtain multiple biopsy specimens from each case.
